Porter's rule: no skipping ahead

The orange ring marks the only guy you're allowed to knock down right now — always the closest one still standing. Throw at anybody behind him and your spear bounces off. As each guy goes into the lava, the ring moves up to the next one.

That rule is on in both modes. What changes is whether knocking one guy over takes the rest with him.

Two versions of this level. Which one is the game?

Same four guys, same lava, same rule about no skipping ahead. One switch changes everything about how it plays. Try both before you decide.

The dials

The spear settings are the ones Porter picked. The chain and lava settings are brand new.

Porter's spear settings

Porter's pick: 200. Try 600 — the guys are stacked at different heights now, so an arc matters more here.

Porter's pick: 2000.

Porter's pick: 0.2s.

Porter's pick: 20.

New — the chain

The pause between one guy finishing his fall-over and knocking the next one. At 0 the wave rips up the steps. Slower is more suspenseful.

Four of them are throwing at you now. You may want more than 3.

Each guy waits this long between throws. With four of them, small changes here matter a lot.

How wobbly their throws are.

The far guys are a long way off. Too weak and they can't reach you at all.

Still a placeholder. Porter hasn't picked what the flip costs.
